Baby Outfits

We are currently in need of preemie and newborn outfits to complete several kits.  Any type of outfit will work! Gowns, sleepers, onesies with pants, jumpers, etc. are perfect.  Just keep in mind the purpose when purchasing certain colors/patterns.  Carter's currently has a big clearance sale going on and two packs of gowns are only $5.99-7.99 (that helps complete 2 kits!).  There are several cute outfits for both boys and girls for cheap! Here is the link to the gowns: http://www.carters.com/carters/2-Pack-Sleeper-Gowns/VM_121A790,default,pd.html?dwvar_VM__121A790_color=LightBlue&cgid=baby-baby-boy-preemie-shop&start=

If you don't want to do the shopping feel free to donate money and we will do the purchasing.  Also, feel free to e-mail me for an address if you would like to purchase and have something shipped directly to me.  Once again thank you to all who have helped make this a reality.  Donations are the only way to make this possible.

Charlie's Kids Foundation

Charlie's Kids Foundation contacted me and asked if I would like to include Gage's picture in their second annual golf outing.  I wanted to share the picture and a little about this great organization.  Charlie's Kids Foundation was started in memory of Charlie who passed from SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome).  His family has established this foundation to educate others on safe sleeping practices to help reduce the mortality rate of SIDS.  This hits close to home as many of you know Gage died, at just 3 days of age, during the night in his sleep.  Even after a complete autopsy his cause of death was undetermined.  I sometimes wish I had a cause of death that gave me a clear picture as to why we lost him.  It just doesn't make sense that perfectly healthy babies die with no explanation.  I just have to tell myself that nothing will bring him back and that God has a purpose and one day I will understand.

Charlie's Kids Foundation held it's second annual golf outing on May 20, 2013.  The golf outing helps spread awareness.  They created a memory walk up the 18th hole with pictures of babies that have died suddenly from SIDS.  Gage's picture was part of this walk.  I can't imagine what an impact it would have to be there and see the pictures of all these beautiful babies that were taken home too soon.  Please visit their website at http://charlieskids.org/ or visit them on Facebook www.facebook.com/charlieskidsfoundation.  Thank you to Charlie's Kids Foundation for including us in your walk!

Items Needed for Next Goal

My next goal is to supply Banner Estrella and West Valley facilities with kits.  We have enough blankets and seed packets to complete these kits.  We are especially in need of preemie/newborn outfits and journals for this donation.  Any help is greatly appreciated and will help us meet this goal! If you can help get any items for these kits please let us know!

60 Kits Donated

We officially donated 30 kits to Phoenix Children's Hospital and 30 kits to Good Samaritan Hospital yesterday!  We now have kits at these facilities as well as St. Joseph's Hospital.  I hope that these kits will help other families who experience the loss of a child.  I am so grateful to everyone who has donated to our organization.  Donations are the only way that we have been able to make and supply these facilities with our kits.  My goal is to start collecting items again and begin making more kits to donate to even more local facilities.  We currently are in most need of preemie/newborn outfits for both boys and girls as well as journals.  Any donation of items or money is greatly appreciated!

An Act of Kindness

I have recently had the privilege of precepting a nursing student for the past several weeks.  I learned that she had suffered a miscarriage in the past and has made blankets to give to others who experience such a loss.  I never realized how many couples experience loss whether it be miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, etc.  I think these types of losses are more common than we may think but many people don't speak about their experiences.  I personally have suffered two miscarriages prior to losing Gage.  I am grateful that I have been able to share my story and have heard the story of so many others.  Helping others and knowing that other people have had similar experiences has helped me in my healing process.

My nursing student wanted to help our organization and donated a bag full of preemie blankets to be added to our kits.  I am so grateful for her kindness!  I look forward to making and donating more kits to families.  Remember any donation big or small can help us make a big difference.

Happy Birthday Gage!

I can't believe it's been a year since we were blessed with our perfect little boy Gage.  We only had 3 short days with him here on earth but we look forward to seeing and being with him once again.  Gage made a huge impact on many lives in his short stay.  I am so proud to be his mom and wish every day that he were here with me.  I think of all the milestones I missed...his first smile, his laugh, sitting, crawling, standing, etc.  I am proud that we are able to keep his memory alive and that his short life has and will make an impact in the lives of others for years to come.  I wish Gage was here to celebrate his 1st birthday but I know he is in a better place and I'm sure birthdays are so much better in heaven! Happy Birthday baby boy, we love you.
